“To encourage participation of temple Youth in social, social action, educational and religious activities through Jewish Leadership and guidance, that will create and develop the skills necessary to build self-esteem, and to continue with life-long Jewish involvement. Youth Activities is the source for seeing through Jewish eyes.”
Chaverim (Grades 3-5)
Chaverim, Hebrew for “friends”. This group learns about Judaism through meaningful programming. They participate monthly in either an on-site event or an off-site excursion.
Jr. BOATY (Grades 6-8)
The Junior Beth Orr Association of Temple Youth (BOATY) is Temple Beth Orr’s Junior Youth Group for students in 6th, 7th & 8th Grades. Jr. BOATY models itself after BOATY, our senior youth group, and serves as an introduction to the leadership, team building, and community service skills our youth develop over time.
Jr. BOATY meets 2-4 times a month on Thursday and some Sundays after Religious School. In addition, exciting monthly events take place throughout the year. Once a year, Jr. BOATY members are invited to attend their own weekend leadership retreat (known as a Kallah) specifically designed for this age group and sponsored by NFTY-STR.
Leadership opportunities are available through board appointments at the beginning of the year. If you are interested in being on the Jr. BOATY Board, or have questions, please contact Slondon@templebethorr.org in the Youth Activities Department, by clicking here.

BOATY (Grades 9-12)
The Beth Orr Association of Temple Youth (BOATY) is Temple Beth Orr’s Senior Youth Group for students in 9th-12th Grades. BOATY is run entirely by its teen membership with the guidance of a Youth Advisor. BOATY offers countless opportunities for leadership, team building, community service, fundraising, travel and adventure!
Weekly meetings will take place on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Additional trips and service projects take place at least once a month.
BOATY is part of the North American Federation of Temple Youth – Southern Tropical Region (NFTY-STR). Four times a year Reform Jewish Teens who are part of NFTY-STR gather from all over Florida to attend leadership conventions (known as Kallot) at host congregations.
Every child and teenager, regardless of temple membership or religious school enrollment, is invited to participate in our TBO youth groups!
