Jewish learning doesn’t end with Bar or Bat Mitzvah!
The teen years are crucial for staying involved in Jewish life, and
exploring issues of personal identity, values, religious awareness, and community.

Madrichim Program

For 8th-12th graders, TBO offers a madrichim, or teacher’s aide, program, where students learn leadership skills as they assist teachers in the K-7th grade religious school, and become mentors to younger children. The program is run by our Youth Director and aims to foster leadership among our youth and create a cohesive peer support group. For more information on this program, please contact the Youth Director by clicking here or by calling (954) 753-3232

8th-12th Grade Judaica High School

Temple Beth Orr also encourages all 8th-12th graders to participate in the Judaica High School of Broward County. We appreciate the busy lives of our teens and therefore encourage them to participate in Judaica High School only as much as they can, and in whatever capacity fits their lives. This program is run by the Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education and held on our campus. This program brings teens from all over the county, affiliated and unaffiliated, together to study, socialize and share meaningful Jewish learning experiences together. Dual enrollment/college credit through Broward College is available to those who qualify.

Senior Youth Group (9th-12th Grades) – BOATY

The Beth Orr Association of Temple Youth (BOATY) is Temple Beth Orr’s Senior Youth Group for students in 9th-12th Grades. BOATY is run entirely by its teen membership with the guidance of a Youth Advisor. BOATY offers countless opportunities for leadership, team building, community service, fundraising, travel and adventure! Weekly meetings take place on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Additional trips and service projects take place at least once a month.BOATY is part of the North American Federation of Temple Youth – Southern Tropical Region (NFTY-STR). Four times a year Reform Jewish Teens who are part of NFTY-STR gather from all over Florida to attend leadership conventions (known as Kallot) at host congregations. For more information on BOATY or NFTY, please contact our Youth Director by clicking here. Check out this video from NFTY-STR’s Winter Kallah this past December in Orlando! Cara Steinberg, one of our BOATY members, is the Communications Vice President of NFTY-STR and put together this amazing slideshow!

Every child and teenager, regardless of temple membership or religious school enrollment, is invited to participate in our TBO youth groups!  If you have any questions, please contact our Youth Director, at
